The Students Learning About Speech & Hearing Summer Program is funded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and it aims to expose high school students from under-represented minority background to the fields of speech-language pathology and audiology. This program is completely free for the students - in fact, they actually get small gift cards as thank-you gestures for attending and we do have financial support available for transportation if needed. The ideal student in this program would be someone who is academically on target and has plans to attend a 4-year college after graduation. We are asking for your help in advertising this program to your students.
The application for this program opens on April 11th and closes April 27th. The link & QR code for the application are included below. We are only able to accept the first 20 students with completed applications so students should be encouraged to apply early if they are interested.
If you have not yet seen the yellow folders and goodies from Firecracker Bakery in your front office, you might want to find those! Each school’s guidance counselor team and SLP are encouraged to share amongst each other Additional copies of the school counselor/SLP introduction letter, program brochure, and a career guide are also attached in this email.
