Welcome Back: Wow, another school year has arrived and the Sharonville staff couldn’t be more excited!  This year we welcome a new nurse, Ms. Laura Craig.  Ms. Craig has a wealth of knowledge and is very excited to work with our families.  We are also welcoming Ms. Chelsea Morrow to Sharonville.  Chelsea will be supporting our fourth grade team.  Ms. Jill Sheeketski is our ½ time Intervention Specialist who is working with grades K, 1, and 2. Mrs. Lindsey Addison has joined the Sharonville team and will be teaching AM/PM kindergarten.

Executive Function: Last year, the staff started to delve into the topic of Executive Function.  We want to understand and support some of the hurdles that many kids have.  According to researcher and author Ellen Galinsky, there are 7 essential executive function skills children need.  They are: 1. Focus and Self-control 2. Perspective taking 3. Communicating 4. Making connections 5. Critical thinking 6. Taking on challenges and 7. Self-directed, engaged learning.  Executive Function is a set of skills that help children make plans, control behavior, and set goals.  At school this looks like completed assignments, cooperative attitude and behavior, and healthy peer relationships.  This work is important to us because we want every child to have a successful school year.

Celebrations: Each homeroom is looking for 1-2 adults willing to serve as a Room Helper.  This person would help the teacher coordinate parent volunteers for class parties and events.  This position does not necessarily require the Room Helper to be present at school during the school day.  If interested, please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher.
