We are so excited to have you and your child on our TEAM. We wanted to take a minute to introduce ourselves in the Special Education Department. During our TEAM approach, any one of us may be working with your child to help them achieve their Individualized Education Plan Goals (IEP).
Betsy Scholles is beginning her 28th year as an Intervention Specialist.
This is Amanda Smith’s 21st year as an Intervention Specialist at Stewart Elementary.
Valerie Habib is new to our team but not new to teaching as this is her 14th year working in Princeton City School District.
We couldn’t do our jobs and provide support to your wonderful children without the aid of Cindy Douglas and Leesa Carr.
The first two weeks of school we were assessing your child, as well as the rest of the entire school, to determine the educational needs at each grade level. Your child will receive their allowable IEP accommodations on these assessments. Now that assessments are complete, we have begun small groups. We will send you a follow up letter soon to let you know the group that your child will be in. Beginning September 5, 2017, your child, along with the entire school, is being instructed at their reading ability for 90 minutes a day (9:25 - 10:45 a.m.). Reading homework will began on this day. More information about your child’s reading placement and their teachers should be coming home soon.
You are the most important member of your child’s educational team and if there is anything that you feel that we need to know or do to help, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We are so excited to work with you this year!
