• Princeton City Schools Launches New Three-Year Strategic Plan and Equity in Action Plan to Accelerate Student Learning for All 

    Princeton City Schools adopted a three-year Strategic Plan and an Equity in Action Plan on January 11, 2021, at its regular Board of Education meeting. The plans set specific and measurable goals aligned to the district’s vision to prepare each student to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens ready to meet the ever-changing challenges of the future.

    “Our strategic and equity plans are inspired first and foremost by our students,” said Tom Burton, superintendent of Princeton City Schools. “Our students have endless potential and we want to do everything in our power to create a school community where every student is supported on a personal, social and academic level and is empowered to achieve, college, career and life success.”

    The district’s three-year strategic plan sets five strategic goals: Responsibility, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Academics, Communication, and Health & Safety. Each goal has defined, measurable objectives with deadlines beginning in the 2021-22 school year. 

    Equal access to success is the cornerstone of the district’s’ Equity in Action Plan. Driven by detailed goals and timelines, the plan focuses on action steps to improve structures, practices, and performance to close the racial, linguistic, and achievement gaps, and to support anti-racist behavior.

    “We celebrate our diverse community and student body at Princeton City Schools,” added Burton. “This action-oriented equity plan shows our commitment to ensuring students, staff, families, and community members of all cultures and perspectives are provided an inclusive, welcoming environment and where all students are encouraged to reach their greatest potential.”

    Both of the district’s newly adopted plans were developed using a six-step process, driven by community and family involvement and aligned to the district’s vision, mission and core principles. The plans also follow a student-centered framework which means student success and wellness is the core of each goal and objective. 

    “We are grateful to our community for engaging in this process and sharing your insightful and personal input and feedback so that we could identify specific areas for growth,” added Lillian Hawkins, Princeton City Schools’ Board of Education president. “We are excited about how the plans embody our core values, will accelerate student learning for each Princeton student and allow the district to measure and share progress with our community and families.”
