In the Library With Mrs. Holloway
I wanted to share some information about BookFlix and Storyline Online - both are wonderful, FREE reading resources we can use.
First - BookFlix. Bookflix is available through our Glendale school page. This Scholastic service pairs a fiction book (read out loud, includes the text on screen, with the book's original illustrations "animated") with a non-fiction book that you can read together using your smartboard about a particular topic. (Non-fiction books in the pairings are not read aloud or animated.)
How to find BookFlix:
1. Go to our Glendale school webpage.
2. Go to the "For Parents & Students" tab.
3. Select "Media Center."
4. Scroll down to InfOhio (this in the option right above Clever) - and click to enter InfOhio. This will open K-5 resources.
4. Click on BookFlix to enter. It has a two-toned blue "B" in its box. (You can skip the intro, as it is very intuitive. This will take you to the "Pick Your Category" page, and you can browse what book pairings are available in each category.)
For example - this week - K-2 students will be watching Martin's Big Words on BookFlix during library visits. This is a wonderful resource, and I wanted to make sure you all knew how to access it.
Second - StorylineOnline.
Website is: https://www.storylineonline.
What is StorylineOnline?? (From their website)
The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s award-winning children’s literacy website, Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Readers include Viola Davis, Chris Pine, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Costner, Annette Bening, James Earl Jones, Betty White and dozens more.
All you have to do to access StorylineOnline is click the link I included above! My favorite one I've seen so far is To Be A Drum, Read by James Earl Jones. This is another great, **FREE** resource I wanted to make sure I shared with you.
