COVID Updates for 2021-2022

2021-22 OFFICIAL DASHBOARD 10242021

On a call with Hamilton County Public Health, area Superintendents, and Hamilton County ESC, Dr. Feagins with the Health Department shared an update regarding proper facial coverings (masks).  Here's what he shared about neck gaiter face masks. Many people may already know.

1.       Neck gaiter masks are not effective and unacceptable, they actually make things worse by aerosolizing the droplets.

Attached you'll find a wellness article from the Washington Post which addresses this and a copy of our policy of facial coverings for pandemics.

August 19, 2021

Good afternoon Princeton Families,

Based on the information the district received today from Greg Kesterman, Hamilton County Public Health Commissioner, the Delta Variant of COVID-19 is continuing to spread in our community and Hamilton County at large. We have been a county of significant spread in the last month, but we are now a county of high spread.  Mr. Kesterman reported on Friday, August 6, 2021, that Hamilton County Public Health was seeing positive COVID-19 cases in all age groups.  As of last Friday, August 13th, the health department reported 150 new COVID-19 cases per day, increasing at a rate of 10 additional cases reported with each new day. As of today, we have over 200 cases being reported for our area per day.

Based on these most recent data, effective Friday, August 20, the district has decided to mandate universal masking for Pre-K-12 students, staff, visitors, and volunteers in all school buildings and indoor facilities. This decision is in alignment with Board Policy 8450.01 for times during elevated communicable disease community spread (pandemic or epidemic). Keeping students safe and in class for learning during these trying times are the main priorities.

Take good care and as always, Go Vikes!

Sincerely,

Tom Burton

Superintendent
