SPRINGDALE, Ohio (WKRC) - Local 12's Educator of the Week is Molly Davis from Springdale Elementary.

She’s been a first-grade teacher for the last 15 years. The last nine of those have been spent in the Princeton School District.

Due to the pandemic, for some of her students, this is their first year in a classroom setting full-time.

“Their kindergarten experience was different in that a lot of them were remote,” said Davis. “I really try to work on being social with each other, having time to just talk and communicate with our partner.”

The compassion she shows for her students is one of the reasons why she was nominated to be Local 12's Educator of the Week.

“I support them as much as I can, as far as giving them positive feedback, just using kind words, making sure that they feel safe in my room. That is a big thing that we talk about being safe,” said Davis. “I care a lot, sometimes maybe too much, but that’s okay. That’s what I’m supposed to do. Someone has to care, you know.”
