Since 2017, Princeton City School District has offered a Digital Safety program for parents and caregivers to learn about the latest trends in keeping children safe online with social media, emails, games, and general computer usage. Recently, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) contacted our administration about the alarming trends they see in Ohio.

In partnership with Homeland Security Investigations, Princeton City Schools is proud to provide an iGuardian assembly to educate students on the dangers of the internet and how to be safe online. We care about our students and want to create an environment of safe earning and awareness.

At their age-appropriate level, we continually talk with all students about being safe online and good digital citizens.  PCMS will also have a voluntary assembly for eighth graders, the most frequent group currently being targeted, to hear a presentation from HSI before Winter Break.

Princeton will offer iGuardian classes to adults and families in February 2024. Dates and times will be announced shortly and promoted to invite the public to attend this important informational session.

In the meantime, here are some links to resources we have available. We will also share tips and best practices on our social media platforms as a reminder to practice good digital citizenship.

HSI urges parents to get involved and have conversations about online safety with your children. Make sure your kids are comfortable talking about what’s happening on the internet or their phone, even if they think they made a mistake. Know what apps and programs your kids are using so you can identify vulnerabilities.

If you know of a victim or have a crime to report, you can reach out directly to the Homeland Security Investigations tip line at 1-866-347-2423.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe, both physically and emotionally.

If you have additional questions about the iGuardian programs, please contact your child's teacher or grade-level principal.
