Senior Art Student, Mikayla Maidlow's artwork titled The End

PHS Celebrates Mikayla Maidlow's Artwork Selection for 2024 Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition

Princeton High School proudly announces that Mikayla Maidlow, a senior art student, has been selected for the prestigious 2024 Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition. Her captivating painting, "The End," will be prominently framed and displayed in Columbus from April 21 to May 16, 2024.

"Mikayla's artistic journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. Her dedication, creativity, and attention to detail have consistently impressed us," said Lindsay Holliday, PHS Art Teacher and Art Department Chair. "As the first PHS Visual Art student with TWO portfolios selected for the Regional Scholastics Awards in the same year, Mikayla has already demonstrated exceptional talent. Her selection for the Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition further solidifies her status as one of the top art students in the Class of 2024."

Maidlow’s artwork has also been displayed at the Sharonville Cultural Arts Center and the Contemporary Arts Center. Her “Exploring Architecture'' and “Journey Through the Multiverse” portfolios earned Silver Key Awards in the 2024 Regional Scholastic Arts competition.  During the 2024 Princeton Festival of Arts, Maidlow sold out of prints of her art that she had for sale.

Principal Ron Bollmer shares, “Mikayla is a student that understands that ‘Hard Work Works’ and uses her motivation and unique perspective to help others see things in a different light. She has taken the Princeton Advantage and made it her own.”

Currently enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) Art classes with teachers Rachelle Williams and Lindsay Holliday, Mikayla's artistic skills continue to flourish, exemplifying the Fine Arts excellence in the Princeton City School District.

The Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, April 21, at 12:00 noon at the Riffe Center Capitol Theatre, 77 South High Street, in Columbus.
