The Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) honored Gina Ruffin Moore, a member of the Princeton City Schools Board of Education, with the 2025 Aptitude Award at the STAR Awards program on Thursday, October 9.
The prestigious recognition acknowledges Moore's dedication and commitment to excellence in school board service. A 1975 graduate of Princeton High School, Moore was elected to the Princeton City Schools Board of Education in November 2015 and has demonstrated exemplary leadership throughout her tenure.
"Gina Ruffin Moore exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated public servant," said G. Elgin Card, Superintendent of Princeton City Schools. "She is committed to making Princeton an academic leader from free kindergarten programs, to improving early education literacy, and offering strong academic opportunities like the International Baccalaureate program. She is a huge advocate for our district to obtain and remain military-friendly with the state’s Purple Star Program. Combined with her deep roots in our community, Mrs. Moore is an invaluable leader on our Board of Education. This well-deserved recognition from the Ohio School Board reflects the positive impact she has made on countless students and families throughout our district."
Moore is a passionate advocate for education, working to ensure all students are prepared for college, career, and life success. Her commitment to strengthening schools stems from a desire to attract and retain top students while building on the Princeton Advantage - the district's strong academic, fine arts, and athletic programs.
A lifelong Princeton community member, Moore earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Ohio University, with concentrations in broadcast news, public relations, and political science. She also holds a Master's in Education with a concentration in Human Resources, Development & Training from Xavier University and is a certified Expert On-the-Job Trainer.
Moore's career has included extensive work in training and public relations for local municipal government and the University of Cincinnati. She served as an on-air news reporter for multiple Cincinnati radio stations, including WLW-AM, WAKW-FM, WMOH-AM, WUBE-FM, WGRR-FM, and WCIN-AM.
Her community involvement includes board memberships with Housing Opportunities Made Equal and the Harriet Beecher Stowe House, as well as service on the Woodlawn Village Council for four years. She is co-founder of the Woodlawn Historical and Preservation Society and author of "Cincinnati: Black America Series." Moore also participates in Toastmasters International and the Greater Cincinnati Association of Training and Development.
Moore and her husband have two college-educated children who are also proud Princeton High School graduates.
The OSBA Aptitude Award recognizes school board members who serve as models of effective governance and demonstrate outstanding dedication to their districts and the students they serve.
The awards banquet, held at the Laurel Oaks campus of Great Oaks, featured a performance by the Princeton City Schools Symphonic Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Syndy Casey.
Princeton City Schools serves students in the communities of Sharonville, Glendale, Lincoln Heights, Woodlawn, Evendale, and surrounding areas in southwest Ohio.
