The Cyber Vikes Super Smash Brothers eSports Team represented PHS this past weekend at the District level of the State Tournament, held at Miami University. In a hard-fought and closely contested first-round match, the team narrowly fell to Centerville, concluding their tournament run.
While the outcome did not advance them further in bracket play, the Cyber Vikes’ presence at the District tournament marks a significant achievement. Following the graduation of a large senior class last year, this season was very much a rebuilding year for the program. With a young roster stepping into leadership roles and gaining valuable competitive experience, the team exceeded expectations by qualifying for the regional tournament in the Southwest Region — a tremendous accomplishment that reflects their dedication, resilience, and growth.
Competing at a high level against some of the top programs in the state, the Cyber Vikes demonstrated teamwork, strategic thinking, and composure under pressure. The experience gained this season has laid a strong foundation for continued success, and the future looks bright for this talented and motivated squad.
The eSports program continues to grow and welcomes students interested in competitive gaming. Families and students who would like to learn more about joining the team are encouraged to contact Head Coach Mr. Sullivan at PHS. The program is actively building additional teams across various gaming titles to compete against high schools throughout Ohio in the eSports Ohio League.
