Princeton City Schools has made substantial progress in creating safer learning environments through their Heart Safe Schools initiative. Thanks to generous grant funding from the American Heart Association (AHA), the district has been able to implement comprehensive cardiac emergency preparedness programs across our facilities.

The Heart Safe Schools program is a comprehensive approach to emergency preparedness that goes far beyond basic first aid training. Schools participating in the program undergo rigorous preparation, including specialized training for staff, regular emergency drills, detailed response plans, systematic equipment checks, and clear emergency signage throughout the facilities.
What Makes a Heart Safe School?
Heart Safe Schools are equipped with automated external defibrillators (AEDs), have trained staff members who can respond to cardiac emergencies, maintain detailed emergency action plans, and conduct regular drills to ensure everyone knows their role during a cardiac emergency.
The collaboration between Princeton City Schools and their partners demonstrates the power of community partnerships in protecting student health and safety. The American Heart Association's grant funding, combined with the expertise of Project Adam and Cincinnati Children's Hospital, has created a robust support system for the district's emergency preparedness efforts.
The achievement of Heart Safe School status by Evendale Elementary School and Sharonville Elementary School represents months of dedicated preparation and training. These schools now serve as models for other schools in the district and demonstrate Princeton City Schools' commitment to student safety and emergency preparedness.
