Building Healthy Habits: How Our School Is Showcasing WIGs and Celebrating Growth
At Evendale Elementary School, we believe in growing leaders from the inside out — and that begins with the Seven Habits for Healthy Kids. These habits, inspired by The Leader in Me framework, help students take charge of their choices, set goals, and build strong relationships. This year, our entire building is focusing on making these habits visible and meaningful, especially through the celebration of our WIGs — Wildly Important Goals!

Be Proactive – I’m in charge of me!
Begin with the End in Mind – I have a plan.
Put First Things First – I work first, then play.
Think Win-Win – Everyone can win.
Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood – I listen before I talk.
Synergize – Together is better!
Sharpen the Saw – I take care of my body, brain, heart, and soul.
These habits guide our students not just in their academics, but in how they approach friendships, challenges, and personal growth.
Displaying Our WIGs: A Building-Wide Celebration
In our building, each student has chosen their own Wildly Important Goal (WIG) — something measurable and meaningful that students are working toward together. They are housing these in their Data Binders…which were shared with Princeton’s Board of Education recently.
As a building we are highlighting the Math, Reading, Behavior and Attendance. Our WIG displays are more than just colorful boards — they’re living reminders of how our students are learning to set goals, track progress, and support one another along the way. By focusing on the positives, we’re helping our students develop confidence, perseverance, and pride in their accomplishments.

As our school continues to live out the Seven Habits and track our WIGs, we’re seeing real results — not only in academic growth but in leadership, kindness, and school spirit. Together, we’re building a culture that values progress, positivity, and purpose.
