Board of Education Announcement

Notice from the Board of Education - August 21, 2025

Mrs. Susan Wyder resigned from the Princeton Board of Education due to personal matters on August 20, 2025.

Her letter of resignation states:

“My oldest, Gretchen, started at Springdale Elementary when she was in Carol Spiller’s kindergarten, and I was the room mother that year in 1974-75. The classes continued our great times, as I then chaperoned with the classes of Rachael, Jennifer, and Charlie on their many outings. These were great years, followed by a teaching career in Princeton. Our four children had splendiferous educations, while I had a terrific career, followed by retirement, and volunteerism, including serving on the Board of Education. However, all good things must end, and I am resigning from the Board, effective immediately. Please know that I consider my time in Princeton one of life’s gifts!”

Mrs. Wyder has been a pillar of our Viking Family, both as a teacher from 1980 to 2011, and as a Board of Education member from 2011 to 2025. Mrs. Wyder was the Princeton Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2007 and was recognized in 2021 as a Hero of Character by the Cincinnati Character Council.  Her firsthand classroom experience, working with staff and students, was an asset in policy and decision-making, and she devoted her efforts to ensure that all Princeton students continue to receive the depth and breadth of education that is the "Princeton Advantage.”

We thank Mrs. Wyder for her 50 “splendiferous” years of service and commitment to our students, staff, and community. Her Giving Tree Program and The Princeton Closet are examples of her efforts that significantly impact our community through her tireless advocacy for children and students. The district will host a celebration in honor of Mrs. Wyder in the near future, and details will be shared with the community once plans are finalized.

The Board of Education will appoint a qualified individual to complete the remainder of this term, which expires in 2027. Community members who are interested in being considered for this appointment are invited to submit a letter of interest to the Princeton City School District Treasurer, Mrs. Chris Poetter, no later than September 3, 2025.

Letters of interest should be sent to:
