Third graders took the lead in a special way by hosting their own parent-teacher conferences. With confidence and pride, students shared their work, reflected on their progress, and talked about their goals for the rest of the year. It was wonderful to see them take ownership of their learning while building strong connections with their families. On February 4th, students from Mrs. Clements's 2nd grade class celebrated World Read Aloud Day, alongside other students around the world. They participated in a live Zoom event through Scholastic Books where author Lester L. Laminack read his delightful story The Three Hens and a Peacock. The students loved listening to the expressive reading and enjoyed the humorous tale of the hens who must learn to crow like a rooster when a flashy peacock takes his place. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading, connect with an author, and share in the excitement of stories together. #SPLittleVikes #AAGV
Mrs. Davis and Ms. Strome had just as much fun as the students during the 120th Day of School celebration! They joined in the excitement by dressing up in creative “120-year-old” costumes, complete with gray hair, glasses, and canes. The Springdale 5th graders were thrilled to welcome back Mika from the Observatory for another exciting visit! Today’s lesson took them on an out-of-this-world adventure as they explored fascinating space rocks like meteoroids, meteors, and meteorites. Students were especially excited to get hands-on and create their very own comet models, learning how ice, dust, and gas come together to form these icy travelers of the solar system. With curiosity shining as bright as the stars, our fifth graders had a blast discovering more about the wonders of space! #SPLittleVikes #AAGV
Springdale 4th graders had an exciting hands-on learning experience as they explored the science of fingerprinting with Officer Riordan. Students were fascinated to discover that no two fingerprints are exactly alike and learned how law enforcement uses patterns like loops, whorls, and arches to help solve cases. With careful attention, they dusted for prints and examined their own unique patterns, feeling like real investigators for the day. Springdale students had a wonderful time enjoying a special performance of The Tortoise and the Hare presented by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. The lively actors brought the classic tale to life with colorful costumes, engaging music, and plenty of humor that kept students laughing and cheering. As they watched the tortoise’s steady determination and the hare’s overconfidence unfold on stage, students were reminded of the important lesson about perseverance and doing your best.
