The Princeton High School Athletics Hall of Fame Committee is pleased to announce the 21st Class of inductees: 1989 4x800 Meter Relay State Champion, Paris Johnson Jr., Bernice Linner, Jarrell Williams, Jill Phillips, and Ed Hartwig.
These deserving individuals will be recognized at the Varsity Basketball game on Saturday, February 13, 2027, and formally inducted at a special reception at the Delta Hotel in Sharonville on Friday, February 12, 2027.
1989 4x800 Meter Relay State Champions: Gordon Benning, Ty Pates, Jason Williams, and Joe Cooper
Princeton ran a 7:47.86 to beat Dayton Patterson and Cincinnati Withrow in the 4x800 meter relay.
Bernice Linner - Basketball and Track Class of 1982
Bernice was a standout basketball and track performer. She was named all GMC and All-Ohio in Basketball and played at Morehead State University.
Jarrell Williams - Football Class of 2004
In 2003, senior quarterback Jarrell Williams of Cincinnati Princeton High School was named an Ohio Division I Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Jarrell was also a 1st Team All-State and GMC player and signed a scholarship to play at the University of Kentucky.
Paris Johnson Jr. - Football (Elite Athlete) Class of 2020
Paris is a 2020 graduate of Princeton High School. During his senior year, he was named to the 1st Team GMC, 1st Team All-Ohio, and 1st Team All-American. Paris created “The Paris Johnson Jr. Foundation” in 2018.
He played 31 games in three seasons (2020-22) at The Ohio State, starting 26 consecutive contests over his final two years … started at both Right Guard and Left Tackle in his college career … in his three seasons with the Buckeyes, the team had a 29-5 record and twice made the College Football Playoffs (2020, 2022) and played in the National Championship Game in 2020 … an All-American on the field, twice earned Academic All-Big Ten honors and was a two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete …
Selected by the Cardinals in the first round (6th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Ohio State.
Jill Phillips - (Coach)
Coach Phillips won 9 GMC Titles, 7 District Titles, 1 Regional championship, and 1 State championship in 2014. Coach Phillips finished with a Princeton record of 325-80, becoming Princeton's all-time wins leader. Phillips was named GMC Coach of the Year 6 times, District 16 Coach of the Year 4 times, Southwest District Coach of the Year in 2014, and the OHSBCA and AP Coach of the Year in 2014.
Ed Hartwig - (Lifetime Achievement)
Ed Hartwig was the first full-time athletic trainer at Princeton High School. He served all of the Men's and Women's Athletic teams from 1973-1998. He also represented Princeton in the East-West All-Star Games and the All-City Baseball Game.
