The Princeton Vikings had successful seasons on the hardwood in 2025-2026 that resulted in a state championship for the boys basketball team and a state runner-up finish for the girls basketball team. Players from these teams are also being recognized for their outstanding achievements.
Vikings A'mire Gill and Erin Thomas were name the Cincinnati Enquirer Boys Basketball Player of the Year and Girls Basketball Player of the Year, respectively, at the Enquirer's High School Sports Awards Ceremony, held on June 16 at Matthews Auditorium in Viking Village.
Gill, who was also Most Valuable Player in the OHSAA Division I state championship game, averaged 17.7 points per game in the 25-26 season, including scoring 24 points in the title game against Hilliard Bradley. Gill's return for his senior season in 2026-27 will put the Vikings in position to once again be in contention for the state tournament.
Thomas, in only her sophomore season, averaged nearly 20 points per game for the Lady Vikings en route to another runner-up finish in the Division I state tournament. According to the latest ESPN SC NEXT Player Rankings, Thomas is ranked as the 15th best girls player in the United States in the class of 2028.
