Lynette Carisa Brown
A Message from the Superintendent
On behalf of the Princeton City School District Board of Education, we are saddened to share the news of the death of fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Lynette Brown.
Mrs. Brown was a dedicated teacher at Princeton and worked in multiple buildings during her tenure. She began her career in 1995 as a teacher at RELIS and worked at Stewart, and held administrative roles at Heritage Hill and Glendale. She also worked in Human Resources at Central Office.
She spent the last 15 years at Glendale Elementary School. Mrs. Brown was instrumental in creating an after-school enrichment program called “March Empowerment.” As part of this volunteer program, students learned chess, yoga, Spanish, computer coding, and created arts-and-crafts. She established this free program to provide students with memorable experiences and unique opportunities beyond what was taught in the classroom.
In 2024, Mrs. Brown was named one of Cincinnati’s three Teachers of the Year by the Adopt A Class Foundation and was honored at the foundation’s end-of-year celebration breakfast and a Princeton Board of Education meeting. The foundation praised her fifth-grade classroom at Glendale Elementary for its supportive, collaborative environment and the respect and confidence she built in every student.
The Princeton City School District is thankful for Mrs. Brown’s many years of committed service to our students and community, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. In May 2025, Mrs. Brown received her pin honoring 30 years of service to the school district.
Service and memorial arrangements, along with an official obituary, are shared in this link. We know that news like this may be difficult for those who worked with Mrs. Brown or knew her through our schools. Staff members and students who would like support are encouraged to contact Talbert House staff, who will be on-site or speak with your administration for assistance accessing resources. Fernside counselors are also available by calling 513-246-9140.
Please join us in honoring Mrs. Brown’s legacy of service and the lasting impact she made on students, colleagues, and families.
Sincerely,
G. Elgin Card
Superintendent

Dear Glendale and Princeton family members,
It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the death of one of our teachers, Mrs. Lynette Brown. Mrs. Brown took a leave of absence in early February to address her medical needs. Mrs. Brown served the district for over 30 years.
This information is being shared with you today because we believe that it is important for you to have a choice to communicate the loss with your child in a manner appropriate for your family.
On Wednesday, March 4, a support team of school psychologists, counselors, and other pupil support staff from the Princeton City School District will be readily available to offer grief counseling for any student who may need to talk. Our support team will continue to be available for as long as necessary in the days ahead.
When faced with the death of someone close to them, children may go through stages of grief. Please watch your children and be alert to any changes, such as:
Physical – any changes in sleep patterns or eating habits;
Emotional – any changes such as unusual fears, anger, worry, or clinging behaviors toward parents; or
Social – loss of interest in usual activities
I have attached a handout that you can use to talk with your child. If you think your child is having a difficult time dealing with this loss, please contact the school, and we will provide additional assistance. Talbert House and Fernside counselors are also available. Please call 513-246-9140 to speak with someone immediately.
I know you will join me in extending our heartfelt sympathy to Mrs. Brown’s family.
Sincerely,
Timothy Walker, Principal
